The things we leave behind...

Becoming less idealistic, but at what cost?

"standard of perfection; model; person or thing that embodies a standard of perfection"

....hmmm this makes the gears turn in my head. At what cost? I think we are short changing ourselves by getting our hopes up to find something that is ideal. instead of asking a person "what is ideal for you"... maybe we should start asking them "what is faulty and imperfect for you? What's the worst that can happen?" Then whatever happens will surely be better than that. Or maybe we can just be realistic about things....nah.

Or you could just look at it like Sylvia Plath: "If you expect nothing from somebody you are never disappointed." Seems depressing, but it makes sense.

this is true. very depressing...but when you're let down so many times it just seems easier to expect the worst from people I suppose. which is completely unfair to them. she wasn't always depressing though which gives me hope (but not too much haha)...my favourite:

"i wanted change and excitement and to shoot off in all directions myself, like the colored arrows from a Fourth of July rocket."

my favorite:

"To learn and think; to think and live; to live and learn: this always, with new insight, new understanding, and new love..."
